Spring Stay and Pray
On Tuesday February 10th 2026 many parents attended a stay and pray session in the hall. It was wonderful to see so many of you there to pray with your children.
The Celebration of the Word focused on World Day of the Sick on Wednesday 11th February 2026. The day was introduced by St. Pope John Paul II to help us remember to pray for all those who are ill and for their caregivers. He chose this day because it coincides with the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Lourdes is a Catholic pilgrimage site, where the sick from around the world travel to ask Mary, our mother, to pray with and for them.
Our Pope, Pope Leo XIV, has declared the theme for this year’s World Day of the Sick as ‘The Compassion of the Samaritan: Loving by bearing another’s pain’. We heard the parable of the Good Samaritan from Luke's Gospel.
We responded by praying the prayer that Pope Leo has invited us to say which is:
Sweet Mother, do not part from me.
Turn not your eyes away from me.
Walk with me at every moment and never leave me alone.
You who always protect me as a true Mother, obtain for me the blessing of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Our mission was to write a prayer to Our Lady to ask her to provide comfort and healing or to write a prayer for someone we know who is sick or for those around the world who are unwell. Through doing this we will be acting as the Good Samaritans that Pope Leo is calling us to be.
Thank you once again for coming and stay tuned for class based Stay and Pray sessions during Lent ????
