At St. Ignatius, we work with a number of charities as part of our support for the wider work of the Church.

St Oscar Romero said, “God wants to save us in a people. He does not want to save us in isolation. … A people is a community of persons where all cooperate for the common good.” As Catholics we are called to work together for the Common Good.  We therefore chose charities that link with our RE curriculum structure and points to our work with local, national and international communities.

CAFOD

CAFOD, is the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development and the official aid agency for the Catholic Church in England and Wales.

CAFOD believes 'a better world is one that's good for everyone. They work side by side, with local experts and community leaders to build a world where no one has their life limited by the injustices of poverty, conflict or the climate crisis'.

CAFOD is a part of Caritas Internationalis- one of the largest aid networks in the world- and they support families around the world, regardless of their religion, to flourish.

They work with communities across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, helping people to tackle the poverty and injustice they face. They work wherever the need is greatest, with people of all faiths and none.

National Charity- MacMillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support - JustGiving

Every Autumn term we hold a coffee morning for MacMillan Cancer Support. This is well attended by parents and provides a good opportunity to have a catch up on summer holiday news after the six-week break.  Many of us have been affected by cancer and MacMillan is a charity that many in our school community are keen to support. Miss McGinty, a member of our RE team, ran the London Marathon in April 2025 and, with the help of the St. Ignatius community, raised over £2000 for MacMillan.

Local Charity-Noah's Ark Children's Hospice Barnet

Expert Paediatric Palliative Care | Noah's Ark Children's Hospice

This year we have chosen to raise funds for a local charity called Noah's Ark Children's Hospice in Barnet.

Noah's Ark help children who are seriously unwell make the most of every day. They enable those they support to enjoy life as children rather than as patients; and as families, not just as carers. The 'Ark' is set in a 'stunning 7.5-acre nature reserve and is run by specialists in paediatric pailliative care, it's been carefully designed to meet the needs of children at different stages of their lives.

On Friday 3rd October 2025, we held a 'Wear Something Red and Give a Pound Day' to raise funds for Noah's Ark. We raised over £200 with our ‘Wear Something Red’ Day and we will continue to fundraise for Noah’s Ark throughout the year.

We were very lucky to have Luke Holmes, an ambassador for Noah’s Ark, come and deliver an assembly to the children to explain what services the hospice provides for families in need and explain how their donations will help with this.

We also organise fundraising activities, such as food collections, for other local charities such as St. Ignatius' Homeless Project Fund which feeds those in need every lunchtime from Monday to Friday.
