Year 4 Parent Letter Autumn 2

Bronze, Iron and Stone Age

In our topic lesson we had a go at creating our own Stone, Iron or Bronze Age inspired villages. We had to make sure we had a house, water source, fields and crops.

In 3W we have begun our new topics for the term, ‘Who are the worlds greatest builders?’ and ‘All about me’ for Literacy.
In our topic lesson we had fun organising the key events from the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age onto a timeline and recording our own bank of key facts.

Literacy was fun too. We have begun looking at autobiographies and how they are set up ready to start writing our own. We enjoyed writing some anonymous facts about ourselves too so we can play guess who according to the facts.

In Year 3 we have got off to a very busy start.  We have been enjoying learning all about our topic, ‘Who killed Tutankhamen?’ and have come up with many of our own suspicions about his mysterious death.

We’ve also been busy learning all about Electricity and have planned our first experiment ready to carry out next lesson where we will be looking to identify which materials act as electrical conductors. In RE we have been looking at what makes the Christian family and what welcomes you into the worldwide Christian family.

We’ve also recently enjoyed Roald Dahl day where we watched the BFG and made our own dream jars and as our first piece of writing in Year 3, we had a go at writing about a trip to the forest using Anthony Browne’s book,  ‘Into the Forest’ as a stimulus.
